Meet Our Trustees 

The Upper Room's Board of Trustees currently consists of ten members. These outstanding and dedicated individuals have all been carefully selected and vetted to provide strategic, legal and financial oversight to the work of our organisation in line with the requirements of the Charity Commission. They are:

Simon Tuke

Chair (Trustee since 2005)

Having spent 30 years in the advertising industry, Simon brings marketing and design experience, along with financial skills through running his own business.

Paul Mawdsley

Treasurer (Trustee since 2014)

Paul has 15 years' experience in the financial sector in a number of different roles. An engineer by training, he started his career as a software developer, and currently works as a derivatives trader for a major investment bank.

Revd Paulette Mullings

Member (Trustee since 1998)

Paulette is the Assistant Curate at St Saviour's Church, and Deacon of St Paul's Cathedral. She has skills in budget management and pastoral care.

Bridget Stevenson

Member (Trustee since 2009)

Retired in early 2016, Bridget has previously worked as HR Manager and Consultant for a variety of law firms and run an organization to encourage the development and expertise of HR professionals in the legal world. She has also previously run a business that provided music processing for the academic world.

Richard Shaw

Member (Trustee since 2011)

Richard was a partner with Manches Solicitors, and then spent three years with Howard Kennedy as a Consultant. He has also been Treasurer for a variety of charities, and brings valuable expertise.

Matthew Morgan

Member (Trustee since 2011)

Matthew has worked in Fine Arts for a variety of businesses including 10 years with Christie's. Presently works for Stancliffe & Glover Fine Arts, promoting valuation for taxation services. He has also been involved in staff recruitment and training. He is presently chair of the Community Development Team at All Saints Church and is an experienced speaker.

Julian Hillman

Member (Trustee since 2011)

Julian was the CEO of Ealing Mencap for 18 years and Councillor on Hammersmith & Fulham Council for four years. He previously worked in local authority social services, and started his working life as a probation officer. He is highly experienced in the way statutory and voluntary sectors are managed.

Kenneth Barbour

Member (Trustee since 2011)

Kenneth was the Operations Consultant and later Interim Director of Wandsworth Museum. He was previously Head of Business & Collections Services, and later Visitor Experience Operations Manager at the Science Museum. He has 20 years' experience of staff management, projects and budgets within the museum sector, including in successfully securing funding.
