UR4Driving helps ex-offenders improve their employment chances. Participants are required to pursue opportunities for personal development and for improving their employability, including through voluntary work experience and access to informal peer mentoring. During this time participants are also required to attend the centre and use the facilities provided to practice for their theory tests.
The above activities make up Phase 1 of the project, a mandatory 80 hours of engagement, after which those who exhibit the utmost commitment, consistency, reliability, a positive attitude, ability to work in a team, and who pass their Theory Test are progressed into Phase 2, where they commence free driving instruction and subsequently take their Practical Driving Test.
Successful participants are awarded The Upper Room's Certificate of Completion and encouraged to join our mentoring programme, where they would have a chance to help others, and contribute to our mission to 'Improve Lives'.
To be eligible interested candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
Have a previous criminal conviction and be committed to overcoming the barriers this poses to entering into sustainable employment.
Hold a current Provisional Driving Licence.
Obtain a Risk Assessment letter from a Probation Officer, or a person of similar authority e.g. a social worker.
Be willing to accept the terms of participation on the project.

Places are limited and demand for this project is high. If you want to be considered for a place on the project then send your application in early. New candidates are recruited throughout the year. We give priority to residents of Hammersmith & Fulham.
Candidates who are not able to get on the project due to limited places will be put on a waiting list and will be contacted in due course once places become available.
